Although we are writing an essay in English, Mr. Wilkins decided to pile it on, and assigned us an essay also. So far we have only done part of it by deconstructing the prompt and writing our thesis and hook. I finished the topic sentences and wrote the beginning of my first paragraph. I'm getting closer to finishing my essay!
In History, we are learning about our government. We took cornell notes on the subject, and we have to focus them for homework. The cornell notes went over major points such as the three branches, and the Bill of Rights that helped shape our country.
A few days ago in history, we had to take another test! This one taught us how to cite evidence from one or multiple texts to make our side seem stronger. This test was also district wide, and all 8th graders have to take it sometime. It was hard to me, but I still think I did pretty well. Hopefully, I'll be able to get better at getting evidence to support my point.
In History, we drank tea. One type was sweetened with sugar, and the other was unsweetened. That one tasted horrible, like dirty water! The sweet tea was delicious, so I "ordered" a tall instead of a normal one. I loved it and so I became a loyalist, because I drank tea "Sweetened by His Majesty's taxes." In other words, Patriots were the people who actually liked the unsweetened tea, while Loyalists were the people who liked the sweetened tea.
